Our supplier has offered documentation demonstrating Little Mako glasses do meet Australian and New Zealand standards in terms of blocking blue light. But it was also very important to Oscar he saw for himself proof the glasses were effective at blocking blue light and he insisted on having the glasses tested locally too. So we have been in discussion with Auckland University to understand more about this and have even had the glasses tested right here in New Zealand by an optometrist with a Spectral Analyser. The local test on our samples provided was not officially documented for commercial use (this is an expensive and complicated process!) but it did indeed show the glasses were effective beyond the accepted standard and were very effective at blocking blue light (even more so than some of the Blue Light filter products sold by the optometrist!) which Oscar was very happy with!

Even if you limit screen time, small amounts of Blue Light emitted by the screen of today’s devices like; computers, laptops, phones and gaming consoles is especially disruptive to children. Blue Light inhibits the production of melatonin, the body’s natural sleep hormone. It also increases digital eye strain which can leave you feeling lethargic at the end of the day.

Blue Light filter glasses work by eliminating Blue Light so these effects are mitigated, allowing your kids to enjoy a healthy amount of play, study or video on their favourite device without the side effects.
